Russian State Duma's Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Leonid Slutsky met today with the ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain Ahmed Al-Saha'ati, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Mohammad Al-Badri, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Al-Shammari and the First Secretary of the UAE Embassy Mohammad Al-Mansouri.

The four diplomats briefed the Russian parliamentarian on the damage and losses suffered by their countries as a result of the support of the State of Qatar for terrorist groups over the past years and the political efforts made by these countries to discourage Doha's aggressive policies. Due to lack of cooperation, the four countries had to decide to cut off diplomatic relations with Qatar to protect their national security and the safety of their peoples.

They said that the current phase required concerted efforts by all states to condemn and combat terrorism at the global level.

For his part, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma said that his country enjoys distinguished relations with the four countries and welcomes consultation with their leaders on various issues of mutual interest.

He expressed his full understanding of the concerns of the four countries and the reasons that led them to adopt such a decision. He called on Qatar to sit at dialogue table with its brothers to remove these fears and resolve the dispute peacefully between them.

He said that the Riyadh agreement signed by the Emir of Qatar in 2014 was a good basis for resolving the dispute that erupted then and Qatar must abide by it.

He added that Russia was one of the first countries to fight terrorist groups, adding that it had blacklisted the terrorist Brotherhood group.
