RIYADH — The Council of Ministers emphasized on Tuesday that the ambitious Al-Qiddiya Project will contribute in achieving more economic benefits and accelerating the development process.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman chaired the weekly session of the Cabinet at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.

The Cabinet noted that Al-Qiddiya Project, to be inaugurated by the King on Saturday, will be the new entertainment, sports and cultural destination for the Kingdom.

It will embody the aspirations of the Kingdom and the relentless efforts to develop mega projects in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, Minister of Culture and Information Awwad Al-Awwad said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session.

The Cabinet condemned the suicide attack in Kabul, and renewed the Kingdom’s solidarity with Afghanistan in combating extremism and terrorism.

Awwad said the Cabinet lauded the outstanding performance of the security forces and agencies under the Ministry of Interior to significantly bring down crime and accident rates in the Kingdom over the past 10 months.

The Cabinet approved the Commercial Mortgage Law following its endorsement by the Shoura Council and the Council of Economic and Development Affairs.

It also approved the addition of a clause to the regulations for holding conferences and seminars by government agencies with foreign participation to the effect that the official language for deliberations at these events must be Arabic. Other languages could be used with instant translation by qualified Saudis.
