أنهت وكالة غوث وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين (الأونروا) أمس (الأربعاء)، عقود عمل 267 موظفا بعد تجميد الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية مساعدتها المالية.

وأوضح المتحدث باسم «الأونروا» كريس غينيس في بيان، أن الوكالة تعتزم تسريح 154 موظفا في الضفة الغربية و113 آخرين في قطاع غزة، وذلك بعد أشهر على إعلان واشنطن وقف مساعداتها المالية السنوية بقيمة 300 مليون دولار لـ«الأونروا»، في قرار اعتبره غينيس في بيانه تهديدا لوجود الوكالة.


كما سيتم تقديم عروض عمل لوظائف بدوام جزئي لأكثر من 500 موظف يعملون في الوكالة بدوام كامل، بحسب البيان.

وفي مدينة غزة تظاهر مئات الموظفين في المقر الرئيسي للأونروا وحاول أحدهم إضرام النار في جسده قبل أن يمنعه آخرون، بينما فقد عدد من الموظفين وعيهم وسط حالة من البكاء والصراخ. وتقدم الأونروا التي تأسست في 1949 مساعدات لأكثر من ثلاثة ملايين فلسطيني من أصل خمسة ملايين مسجلين لاجئين في الأراضي الفلسطينية والأردن ولبنان وسورية.
