أشار وزير الخارجية الأمريكي مايك بومبيو إلى أنه «من الممكن جدا» أن تكون إيران مسؤولة عن تخريب المصالح النفطية الخليجية.

ولفت اليوم (الثلاثاء) إلى أن الولايات المتحدة لم تتوصّل إلى «استنتاج نهائي» يمكن عرضه علناً حول عمليات التخريب لناقلات نفطية قبالة سواحل الإمارات أو استهداف محطّتي ضخ لخط أنابيب رئيسي في السعودي.


وأضاف بومبيو في تصريح إذاعي «بالنظر إلى جميع النزاعات الإقليمية التي شهدناها في العقد الماضي وشكل هذه الهجمات، يبدو أنه من الممكن جدا أن تكون إيران وراءها».

وتابع بومبيو «الأهم هو أننا سنواصل اتخاذ إجراءات لحماية المصالح الأمريكية والعمل لردع إيران عن السلوك السيء في المنطقة والذي يهدد بحق بتصعيد الوضع بحيث ترتفع أسعار النفط».
