President Vladimir Putin of Russian Federation said that the visit of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Moscow earlier this month is a great honor for Russia, describing it as a "historic event" as the first visit of a Saudi king to Russia.
"This visit demonstrates Saudi Arabia's approach to building relations with Russia and the common interests of the two countries. We coordinated our position with the OPEC countries, primarily with Saudi Arabia in stabilizing oil prices. We are very happy with our collective work and have opportunities for military and technical cooperation.", he said.
"There are no major differences between Russia and Saudi Arabia, as well as with other countries in the region," he said in response to a question during the 14th session of the Valdai International Dialogue Forum in the Russian city of Sochi on relations between Moscow and Riyadh. "In fact, Saudi Arabia had good relations with the Soviet Union, and there is nothing that distinguishes us very much. I do not see reasons for differences with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region. Moreover, I have very good personal relations with all these countries," he said.
