Beijing - The China-Arab States Cooperation Forum started its 8th ministerial meeting in Beijing today (Tuesday) to discuss ways of activating and strengthening Arab-Chinese relations in various fields, especially in the economic field.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir who is the chairman of the current session.
Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the 8th ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing in which he announced his intention to hold an international conference on the Palestinian cause and his support for a permanent solution based on the two-state solution and the Arab peace initiative, which is the foundation for peace negotiations between Palestinians and Israel in order to get out of the current stalemate.
Xi also announced that China and Arab countries had agreed to establish a "future-oriented strategic partnership of comprehensive cooperation and common development."
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait has reiterated that there were talks with Chinese friends on gigantic future projects that reflect a real partnership with Beijing, referring to practical steps in this regard like the Silk project and Kuwait Islands, voicing absolute confidence in the Chinese leadership's directions and credibility.
Speaking at the 8th Ministerial Sino-Arab States Economic Forum, the Emir said "We believe that boosting mechanisms of cooperation between us will contribute to achieving supreme interests of our Arab nation and our friends, and to enhancing historical relations between the two sides, which we are keen to develop and promote in all fields."
For his part, the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit, also said that the opening of the Eighth Ministerial Session of the Forum on Arab-Chinese Cooperation, which was established in 2004, reflects the keenness of the two sides to deepen the ties of Arab-China relations and improve their relations, calling on China as a superpower to continue its support for the current Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue.
