أمر ملكي بتحويل «إحسان» لمؤسسة مستقلة غير هادفة للربح

A royal decree was issued today to transform the National Platform for Charitable Work (Ihsan) into an independent non-profit organization named (Ihsan Foundation for Charitable Work), aimed at enhancing charitable work and connecting donors with beneficiaries by providing diverse donation opportunities through the foundation, and working to empower individuals and companies to make donations, while coordinating with governmental and private entities to improve the efficiency of the non-profit sector in the Kingdom.

Additionally, a royal decree was issued to form the Board of Trustees of the Ihsan Foundation for Charitable Work, chaired by Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, with Engineer Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi as his deputy. The membership term is three years, renewable, and the board includes: Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, the Governor of the General Authority for Endowments, Engineer Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim bin Abdulrahman Al-Ruwaitih, Adeeb bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Zamil, Princess Nouf bint Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Abdulrahman, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen bin Mohammed Al-Khalaf, and Imad bin Abdulqader bin Abdulmohsen Al-Muheidib.

Supporting Saudi Arabia's Position

These two royal decrees come as an extension of the support that the Ihsan platform has received since its establishment by a royal order in 2021, where the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) was tasked with creating this platform to operate under strong and effective governance that ensures donations reach their rightful recipients in social, religious, educational, food, housing, and health sectors, as part of national efforts aimed at digitally empowering the charitable sector to support the Kingdom's leading position in goodness and giving.
Over the past five years, the Ihsan platform has received support and empowerment from all segments of society, including private and public entities. Thanks to this support, the platform has processed over 440 million donation transactions, totaling 17 billion riyals, which confirms the trust of all segments of society in the platform's role in empowering the charitable sector in the Kingdom and their commitment to doing good in various fields.

A Qualitative Leap

This institutional transformation represents a qualitative leap towards achieving the objectives and future aspirations of charitable work in the Kingdom, by enhancing the ability of the Ihsan Foundation for Charitable Work to stimulate innovation and develop the services of the Ihsan platform, contributing to supporting non-profit programs, services, and platforms related to donations, and helping to unify technical and artistic efforts for charitable and developmental work. This transformation grants the foundation broader powers and greater flexibility as an independent non-profit organization, enhancing its sustainability and governance, enabling it to keep pace with changes, and contributing— in coordination with governmental and private entities— to improving the efficiency of the non-profit sector and promoting a culture of humanitarian work, volunteering, donating, and social responsibility among individuals and institutions in the community.

This transformation marks a new chapter in the journey of Ihsan, which began with the establishment of a reliable national model for digital charitable work based on governance and transparency. Over the past years, it has contributed to building trust and maximizing the impact of charitable work, becoming one of the most prominent national enablers for the non-profit sector. Today, this journey moves towards a new phase of institutional maturity through an independent foundation that enhances sustainability, expands opportunities for innovation, and continues to empower the non-profit sector and maximize its social and economic impact, in line with the rapid growth witnessed by the sector, and contributes to achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
