علمت «عكاظ» أن الخطوة الثانية في برنامج رئيس الوزراء العراقي علي الزيدي لمكافحة الفساد ستطال الفصائل المسلحة.
وسقط حتى الآن نحو نصف الأسماء في قائمة «حيتان الفساد»، في مشهد يعيد إلى الأذهان حملة مطاردة أركان النظام السابق، إذ جرى اعتقال نواب ومسؤولين كبار.
وقال مسؤول عراقي لـ «عكاظ» إن بعض المسؤولين المطلوب القبض عليهم متواجدون خارج العراق، كاشفاً أن الحكومة تفكر في طلبهم عبر الإنتربول الدولي.
وأكدت الحكومة العراقية أن اعترافات المتهمين قادت إلى شبكات أخرى، وحددت يوم 21 سبتمبر القادم موعداً نهائياً لحصر السلاح بيد الدولة.
وفي خضم هذه التطورات، زار وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي بغداد، في توقيت وصفه مراقبون باللافت، إذ جاء متزامناً مع واحدة من أوسع حملات الاعتقال التي تشهدها البلاد منذ سنوات.
وفور وصول عراقجي أصدر رئيس الوزراء بياناً حاسماً أكد فيه أن الحملة التي نفذتها السلطات ضد الفساد تمثل «مرحلة أولى»، متعهداً بمواصلة الإجراءات لاسترداد المال العام.
وقال المكتب الإعلامي لرئيس الوزراء في بيان إن «ما جرى من اعتقالات ضد الفساد هي مرحلة أولى، وأن الحكومة ستستمر في مكافحة الفساد واسترداد المال العام، وأنها مكلفة بحماية مصالح الشعب العراقي ولا تهاون في هذه المسؤولية».
وأكد أن الوضع بات من غير الممكن السكوت عنه، مشيراً إلى أن الغيرة على حال العراقيين تدفع الحكومة إلى التأكيد أن هناك حراساً أقوياء على الأموال العامة، وأنها ستعمل على حسن توظيفها.

So far, about half of the names on the "whales of corruption" list have fallen, in a scene reminiscent of the campaign to hunt down the pillars of the previous regime, as deputies and senior officials were arrested.
An Iraqi official told Al-Iqtisadiya that some of the officials wanted for arrest are located outside Iraq, revealing that the government is considering requesting their extradition through Interpol.
The Iraqi government confirmed that the confessions of the accused led to other networks and set September 21 as the final deadline for consolidating weapons in the hands of the state.
Amid these developments, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Baghdad, at a timing observers described as notable, coinciding with one of the largest arrest campaigns the country has seen in years.
Upon Araghchi's arrival, the Prime Minister issued a decisive statement confirming that the campaign carried out by the authorities against corruption represents a "first phase," pledging to continue measures to recover public funds.
The Prime Minister's media office stated in a statement that "the arrests made against corruption are a first phase, and the government will continue to combat corruption and recover public funds, and it is tasked with protecting the interests of the Iraqi people, with no leniency in this responsibility."
It emphasized that the situation has become impossible to remain silent about, pointing out that the concern for the condition of Iraqis drives the government to affirm that there are strong guardians over public funds, and that it will work to ensure their proper utilization.
