أعلن وزير العدل الباكستاني أعظم نذير تارار أن الحكومة ستطعن على قرار المحكمة العليا الذي أمر السلطات بنقل رئيس الوزراء السابق المسجون عمران خان إلى مستشفى خاص.
وقال في بيان مسجل بالفيديو صدر ليل (الثلاثاء): «هذا الأمر لا يقع ضمن الأطر القانونية». وأضاف أن السلطات درست الحكم وقررت التقدم بطلب إلى المحكمة لإعادة النظر في القرار.
وأشار إلى أن السجين المدان يجب أن يتلقى العلاج إما داخل السجن أو في مستشفى حكومي وفقاً للقانون، مشيراً إلى أن طعن المراجعة سيطلب تعديل أمر المحكمة.
وتبدد هذه الخطوة آمال حزب حركة الإنصاف الذي يتزعمه خان وأفراد أسرته، الذين كانوا يطالبون بمنحه حق الحصول على الرعاية الصحية وحق الزيارة.
يقبع خان (73 عاماً) في السجن بمدينة روالبندي منذ أغسطس 2023، بعد إدانته في سلسلة من القضايا وإقالته من منصبه في العام السابق.
وأمر القضاء أمس (الثلاثاء)، في قرار اطلعت عليه «رويترز»، الحكومة بنقل خان إلى مستشفى شفاء الدولي الخاص في العاصمة إسلام آباد في غضون يومين، وبتمكينه من رؤية طبيبه الشخصي.
وعبر أبناء خان مراراً عن قلقهم إزاء تدهور حالته الصحية العام الماضي، فيما قال محاموه إنه فقد قدراً كبيراً من البصر في عينه اليمنى أثناء وجوده في السجن.
فيما رحب حزب حركة الإنصاف بالأمر القضائي، قائلاً إنه ينبغي تنفيذه «فوراً، وعلى نحو تام، ودون تأخير».
The Pakistani Minister of Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, announced that the government will appeal the Supreme Court's decision that ordered the authorities to transfer imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan to a private hospital.
In a video statement released late Tuesday, he said, "This order does not fall within the legal frameworks." He added that the authorities reviewed the ruling and decided to file a request with the court to reconsider the decision.
He pointed out that the convicted prisoner should receive treatment either inside the prison or in a government hospital according to the law, noting that the review appeal will seek to amend the court's order.
This move dispels the hopes of Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party and his family members, who have been demanding that he be granted the right to healthcare and visitation rights.
Khan (73 years old) has been imprisoned in Rawalpindi since August 2023, following his conviction in a series of cases and his removal from office the previous year.
On Tuesday, the judiciary ordered, in a decision reviewed by Reuters, the government to transfer Khan to Shifa International Hospital in the capital Islamabad within two days and to allow him to see his personal doctor.
Khan's children have repeatedly expressed concern about the deterioration of his health last year, while his lawyers stated that he has lost a significant amount of vision in his right eye while in prison.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party welcomed the court order, stating that it should be implemented "immediately, fully, and without delay."
