فرضت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية أمس (الثلاثاء)، عقوبات اقتصادية على قطاع الطيران الإيراني بأكمله، محذّرة من أن أي جهة تتعامل مع شركات الطيران الإيرانية قد تكون عرضة للعقوبات.
وأعلنت وزارة الخزانة الأمريكية التي تتولى الجانب الاقتصادي من النزاع بين واشنطن وطهران في بيان، أن «جميع شركات الطيران الإيرانية» أصبحت خاضعة للعقوبات الاقتصادية.
وكانت شركتا الطيران الإيرانيتان الرئيستان، «ماهان إير» و«إيران إير»، خاضعتين بالفعل للعقوبات، وانضمت إليهما 27 شركة نقل جوي تعمل على المستوى المحلي أو الإقليمي.
واتهمت وزارة الخزانة الأمريكية السلطات الإيرانية بـ«استخدام قطاع الطيران لنقل الأسلحة والأفراد والبضائع غير المشروعة».
كما قررت الإدارة الأمريكية تعليق بعض الإعفاءات المتعلقة بالنقل الجوي، ومن بينها الإعفاء الذي كان يسمح لشركات طيران غير أمريكية بتشغيل طائرات مصنعة في الولايات المتحدة داخل إيران.
وشملت موجة العقوبات التي أُعلنت الثلاثاء شركتين متهمتين بالعمل «وسيطاً»؛ لتمكين شركة «ماهان إير» من تسلُّم ثلاث طائرات بوينغ 777 خلال صيف السنة الجارية.
وقال وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكوت بيسنت في البيان: «لقد وعدنا باتخاذ إجراءات صارمة ضد الذين يقدمون دعماً مالياً للنظام الإيراني»، مضيفاً: «ونحن نفي بهذا الوعد من خلال فرض عقوبات على الشركات التي تواصل دعم ماهان إير».
وتابع بيسنت: «ليكن ذلك تحذيراً لجميع الذين يتعاملون مع شركات الطيران الإيرانية الأخرى التي خضعت جميعها للعقوبات اليوم: إنكم تخاطرون بالإقصاء من النظام المالي العالمي».
The United States imposed economic sanctions yesterday (Tuesday) on the entire Iranian aviation sector, warning that any entity dealing with Iranian airlines may be subject to sanctions.
The U.S. Treasury Department, which handles the economic side of the conflict between Washington and Tehran, announced in a statement that "all Iranian airlines" are now subject to economic sanctions.
The two main Iranian airlines, "Mahan Air" and "Iran Air," were already under sanctions, and 27 local or regional airlines have joined them.
The U.S. Treasury accused Iranian authorities of "using the aviation sector to transport weapons, individuals, and illicit goods."
The U.S. administration also decided to suspend some exemptions related to air transport, including the exemption that allowed non-U.S. airlines to operate U.S.-manufactured aircraft within Iran.
The wave of sanctions announced on Tuesday included two companies accused of acting as "intermediaries" to enable "Mahan Air" to receive three Boeing 777 aircraft during the summer of this year.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent stated in the announcement: "We promised to take strong action against those who provide financial support to the Iranian regime," adding: "We are fulfilling that promise by imposing sanctions on the companies that continue to support Mahan Air."
Pisent continued: "Let this be a warning to all those dealing with other Iranian airlines, all of which are now subject to sanctions: You risk exclusion from the global financial system."
