The Houthi terrorist militias continue their crimes against the Yemenis, having kidnapped hundreds of residents from the southern rural areas of Taiz, which they recently entered by luring them with promises of amnesty, followed by a campaign of raids and incursions that included villages in the districts of Al-Salw, Al-Mawaset, and Sam'a in the southern part of the governorate.
Local sources confirmed that the militias kidnapped about 75 people in the Al-Salw district, luring them with promises of amnesty and safety in exchange for surrendering their weapons. They were transferred to the Al-Salih prison in eastern Taiz city.
In the Quds area of the Al-Mawaset district, the militias lured dozens of local residents through local intermediaries who have familial ties to Houthi leaders in Sana'a. After convincing them to return to their homes and not resist the militias, their homes were raided, and they were arrested and taken to secret prisons.
Raids, Arrests, and Secret Prisons
In the Sam'a district, the militias sought to reassure the residents and sent intermediaries to fighters from the popular resistance who had taken refuge in the mountains. After convincing them to return to their homes, the militias carried out a campaign of raids and arrested them, transferring them to secret prisons outside the area.
Activists and local dignitaries accused the militias of using promises of amnesty and non-interference with the resistance fighters from the areas to lure former fighters and kidnap them.
Sources confirmed that the Houthi militia's search and raid campaigns in the villages are still ongoing in search of individuals who led the resistance against the Houthis and escaped their grip after they entered their areas.
Massacre at the Training Center
On the ground, the military escalation in Yemen is widening, with the death toll from the Houthi missile attack on a security training center in Shabwa rising to more than 60 killed, according to the governor's deputy, amid fears that the toll may increase as efforts to account for the victims and identify the missing continue.
The missile attack targeted the Al-Alam camp in Shabwa while new recruits were undergoing training to join the security forces. Local authorities had previously announced the deaths of 58 people and injuries to more than 200 others, with missing persons, warning of the possibility of a higher final toll.
The targeting of the training center by the militia raised fears of a new escalation. Local officials called for strengthening the defensive capabilities of Shabwa governorate and providing means to intercept missiles and drones, as the lines of confrontation extend across multiple fronts.
Taiz Under Bombardment and Siege
In Taiz governorate, clashes continue amid escalating Houthi bombardment and worsening living conditions, with restrictions on the movement of supplies and the closure of main roads linking the city to other areas.
Reports indicated that government forces have launched movements to regain areas under Houthi control, while surrounding areas of Taiz witnessed clashes and intense shelling. The decline in the availability of basic goods has led to rising food and water prices, increasing concerns about food security for the population.
According to a report by Reuters published on October 13, about 80,000 people have been displaced due to the recent escalation in Taiz, which is home to hundreds of thousands, while the city faces increasing difficulties in securing basic needs.
Marib and the Western Coast Fronts
Marib remains one of the most prominent confrontation arenas, amid ongoing military tension along the contact lines, while the fronts in Taiz and the western coast gain strategic importance due to their proximity to the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the most important maritime passages for global trade.
