The coach of Al-Qadisiyah, Irishman Brendan Rodgers, confirmed his team's readiness to face Qatari Al-Sadd tomorrow (Monday), pointing to the importance of the match, which represents the team's third game in the elite AFC Champions League, following a positive start where they achieved a victory over Emirati Al-Wasl and a draw with Uzbek Pakhtakor.
Rodgers said: "We are looking forward to this match with great enthusiasm, as it is a special encounter for us, especially since it comes after a good start in the tournament. We will play at home and among our fans, and we aim to deliver a strong performance and achieve a positive result. We have outstanding players and great technical capabilities, and we must be at the peak of focus and seriousness."
Rodgers added: "We are currently working on restoring the players' readiness after a match that required significant physical effort, and we are ready to fight for the result we aspire to. It is natural for the lineup to see some changes due to injuries or for rotation purposes, and it is an important opportunity for those who haven't had enough playing minutes to prove their abilities and seize the chance."
In response to a question from "Okaz" about the strength of Al-Sadd's attack, Rodgers said: "Al-Sadd has high-level players, and I have previously worked with one of their players. We recognize the quality of the opponent, and we respect the coaching staff and the capabilities they possess. However, we trust in our ability to impose our style and create difficulties for them, and we will approach the match with complete focus and respect."
Rodgers concluded his remarks by affirming his confidence in his team, saying: "We focus on continuing the excellent performance we started the season with, and we look forward to delivering a strong match against Al-Sadd and achieving a positive result that will please our fans."
For his part, player Mohammed Abu Al-Shamat confirmed the team's readiness to face Al-Sadd, emphasizing the players' desire to regain the winning rhythm after the recent draw.
He said during the press conference preceding the match: "We compete in all the tournaments we participate in, and we have an outstanding coach with whom we can compete. Our confidence in each other gives us the ability to present our best despite the pressures, and we will fight for the Al-Qadisiyah badge."
Regarding the praise for his performance this season, Abu Al-Shamat said: "I take pride in this praise, but the credit goes to the entire group; we play with team spirit, and every distinction or achievement is credited to everyone, and this is what I take pride in."
