The selection of the nominees was based on their continuous and outstanding performances at both club and national team levels, during the period from August 2025 to July 2026, where each left an unforgettable mark and confirmed the exceptional abilities of Asian players on the global stage, deserving their nomination to compete for the highest individual awards.
Asian Player of the Year Award
Ali Reza Beiranvand: Brilliance at the World Cup
The Iranian national team goalkeeper once again established himself on the biggest global stages, with his remarkable performances in the 2026 World Cup, despite his team's failure to advance beyond the group stage on goal difference.
In particular, Beiranvand made an astonishing save from close range to deny Maxim De Kuyper from scoring during the match that ended in a goalless draw against Belgium, where the 34-year-old goalkeeper saved seven attempts and was named the best player of the match.
Beiranvand, who is 1.95 meters tall, is considered one of the best goalkeepers in Asia, having made his international debut with the senior national team in 2015. He has become the most capped goalkeeper in the history of his country’s "Team Melli" with 90 matches, and he has represented the national team in the last three editions of the Asian Cup and the World Cup.
Beiranvand began his professional career in 2011 and had an outstanding season at the club level with Tractor SC. He helped his team reach the Round of 16 in the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League, ending a four-year absence from the tournament, and contributed to securing direct qualification for the next season for the second consecutive time after his team finished second in the domestic league.
Beiranvand is the only goalkeeper nominated for this award, except for Saudi player Mohammed Al-Deayea, who was nominated in 1996. This is the second time he has made the list after being nominated in 2019, and he has the opportunity to make history if he wins the award.
Feras Al-Breikan: An Influential Element in the National Team and Al-Ahli
Thanks to his distinctive movements, quick turns, and decisive shot that found the net, Feras Al-Breikan instantly became a hero for Al-Ahli during the final of the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League, after scoring the decisive winning goal in the 96th minute.
The contribution of the 26-year-old player during extra time, which was perhaps the most important shot of his career, was a crucial factor in his team's retention of the title, making them only the second team to win the championship twice in a row in the modern era.
Al-Breikan became the first player from Al-Ahli to receive a nomination for this award, having participated in all league matches and scored five goals that helped his team finish in third place, in addition to helping them win the Saudi Super Cup for the second time.
Since joining the Saudi national team in 2019, Al-Breikan has played 80 international matches, scoring 19 goals, and he netted two goals during the crucial win over Indonesia in the Asian playoff as part of the Asian qualifiers - the road to the 2026 World Cup, helping his country qualify for the World Cup for the seventh time in its history. In the United States, the forward started in all three matches for the Saudi national team, which exited the competition from the group stage.
Salem Al-Dawsari: Successful Leadership Towards the World Cup
After winning this award in both previous occasions he was nominated in, in 2022 and 2025, Salem Al-Dawsari can become the first player to win the Asian Player of the Year award three times if he retains the title in this edition, thus equaling the record of Aya Miyama, who won the Asian Player of the Year award three times.
Al-Dawsari, 35, who is considered one of the greatest players in the continent's history, continues to play a pivotal role with his club and national team, as he captains both. After successfully leading the Saudi national team through the Asian playoff in the Asian qualifiers - the road to the 2026 World Cup, Al-Dawsari participated in all matches of the 2026 World Cup, raising his total to nine matches in three editions of the tournament. Thus, he moved to second place in the list of the most capped Saudi players in World Cup history, behind Mohammed Al-Deayea, who played 10 matches.
Al-Dawsari has played 114 international matches with the Saudi national team, and he has spent his entire domestic career with Al-Hilal, becoming one of the most capped players in the club's history with 506 matches, and one of its top scorers with 147 goals.
Al-Dawsari led Al-Hilal to finish the 2025-2026 league season unbeaten, securing second place, in addition to winning the King's Cup for the tenth time, a record. On the biggest Asian stages, Al-Dawsari helped his team reach the Round of 16 in the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League, raising his total appearances in the tournament to 110 matches, a new record, and he moved to third place in the all-time top scorers list of the competition with 35 goals.
