حقق المحتجون الشباب في الهند انتصارًا سياسيًا بارزًا، بعدما أعلن وزير التعليم دارمندرا برادان، اليوم (السبت)، استقالته من منصبه، استجابةً لمطالب واسعة بتحمله المسؤولية عن أزمة تسريب أوراق الامتحانات التي أشعلت موجة احتجاجات في مختلف أنحاء البلاد.
وأعلن برادان استقالته عبر منشور على منصة «إكس»، بالتزامن مع استخدام الشرطة الغاز المسيل للدموع لتفريق متظاهرين في العاصمة نيودلهي، وذلك قبل ساعات من جولة جديدة من المباحثات كانت مقررة بين قادة الاحتجاجات ومسؤولين في الحكومة.
وقال الوزير في منشوره: «في ظل الوضع الذي نشأ في جانتار مانتار وفي أنحاء البلاد، وحتى لا تستغل القوى المعادية للوطن هذه الأوضاع، فقد أرسلت خطاب استقالتي إلى رئيس الوزراء».
وأضاف: «أكن كل الاحترام لتطلعات ومشاعر وتوقعات شباب البلاد المشروعة».
وأثار إعلان الاستقالة موجة من الفرحة بين آلاف المحتجين الذين تجمعوا في وسط نيودلهي ومدن أخرى، حيث اعتبرها المتظاهرون استجابة مباشرة لضغوط الشارع.
وفي محاولة للحد من اتساع رقعة الاحتجاجات، فرضت السلطات الاتحادية قيودًا على خدمات الإنترنت، كما أغلقت الوصول إلى 18 محطة مترو في العاصمة.
وكانت حدة التوتر قد تصاعدت منذ يوم الاثنين الماضي، بعدما أصيب عدد من الطلاب خلال تدخل قوات الشرطة لتفريق المتظاهرين، حيث استخدمت الهراوات وأطلقت الغاز المسيل للدموع لمنعهم من الوصول إلى مقر البرلمان.
وتقود الاحتجاجات مجموعات شبابية غاضبة من تكرار تسريب أسئلة امتحانات القبول الجامعي، وهي اختبارات تُعد مصيرية لمستقبل ملايين الطلاب في الهند.
ولم تقتصر مطالب المحتجين على محاسبة المسؤولين عن التسريبات، بل امتدت لتعكس حالة استياء أوسع من نقص فرص العمل، وانتشار الفساد، والمطالبة بمزيد من المساءلة والشفافية في أداء الحكومة.
وتُعد استقالة وزير التعليم تطورًا سياسيًا لافتًا، إذ ينظر إليها على أنها استجابة مباشرة لضغط الشارع، في وقت تواجه فيه الحكومة تحديات متزايدة لاحتواء الغضب الشعبي واستعادة الثقة في نزاهة منظومة الامتحانات.
Young protesters in India achieved a significant political victory after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced his resignation today (Saturday) in response to widespread demands for him to take responsibility for the exam paper leak crisis that sparked a wave of protests across the country.
Pradhan announced his resignation via a post on the platform "X," coinciding with police using tear gas to disperse demonstrators in the capital, New Delhi, just hours before a new round of talks was scheduled between protest leaders and government officials.
The minister stated in his post: "In light of the situation that has arisen in Jantar Mantar and across the country, and to prevent anti-national forces from exploiting these circumstances, I have sent my resignation letter to the Prime Minister."
He added: "I hold deep respect for the legitimate aspirations, feelings, and expectations of the youth of the country."
The announcement of his resignation sparked a wave of joy among thousands of protesters gathered in central New Delhi and other cities, as demonstrators viewed it as a direct response to street pressure.
In an attempt to curb the spread of protests, federal authorities imposed restrictions on internet services and closed access to 18 metro stations in the capital.
Tensions had escalated since last Monday after several students were injured during police intervention to disperse protesters, where batons were used and tear gas was fired to prevent them from reaching the parliament building.
The protests are led by youth groups angry over the repeated leaks of college entrance exam questions, which are critical tests for the future of millions of students in India.
The protesters' demands not only include holding those responsible for the leaks accountable but also reflect a broader dissatisfaction with the lack of job opportunities, the prevalence of corruption, and calls for greater accountability and transparency in government performance.
The resignation of the Education Minister is a notable political development, as it is seen as a direct response to street pressure at a time when the government faces increasing challenges to contain public anger and restore confidence in the integrity of the examination system.
