In order to alleviate the daily pressure on his wife, a Singaporean turned her commuting struggles into an innovative tech idea by developing a smart app that helps determine the best time to leave home and catch buses without the need to follow complex details or make repetitive decisions.
The story began when his wife started a new job at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, where her daily commute took about 90 minutes, and she faced difficulties dealing with traditional transport apps that presented a large amount of information regarding routes and arrival times.

This prompted Jay Tiu, 38 years old, to develop an app called (Leavenow), which relies on real-time transport data and the user's walking speed to determine the optimal departure time to the bus stop. He stated, "The goal was not to present more data, but to help the user make a quick and clear decision about when to leave," explaining that the app gave his wife about 20 extra minutes each day, whether for sleeping in the morning or relaxing after her day ended.
The app allows users to save recurring routes, track buses in real-time, and check seat availability, in addition to sending customized alerts to users, while the free version allows monitoring of one station.
The app's creator emphasized that the project is not limited to facilitating daily commuting but also aims to reduce the mental burdens that some traditional apps may impose on certain user groups by providing less information, less complexity, and faster decisions.
